Sustainability Mission
Our Mission:
Wylde the Label is constantly making a long-term commitment to making fashion fun and accessible while leaving a positive impact on our environment. Our hope is that our practices and products inspire others to work together to reach a greater goal.
Sustainability, ethics, and transparency are our top priorities. Each day we learn more about how we can make small changes that have a big, lasting impacts.
Our Team/Partners:
Wylde the Label is a mother-daughter, female owned and operated small business run from our home in Los Angeles. We work with local suppliers and screen printers, do limited runs, and hand sew everything ourselves to minimize our carbon footprint.
Textile Sources:
Textile waste is major component of the world's landfills. Textile waste is believed to take up more than 7% of landfills around the world, and it is estimated that the average US citizen throws away 70 lbs. of clothing and other textiles each year. Globally, 87% of disposed textiles is sent to a landfill or burned, and that needs to stop.
Wylde the Label is committed to improving the textiles we use by working with organic, recycled, and renewable fabrics, and plant-based dyes. We use deadstock fabrics, excess fabric left behind by textile mills and fashion houses, that are locally sourced in Downtown Los Angeles.
Goals:
In addition to improving our fabrics and garments by using renewable resources, we also up-cycle and repurpose vintage and preloved clothing to sell unique one-of-a-kind pieces.
I've added a collection called "personal closet", so my own clothing gets a new life as well!
Packaging:
We use 100% bio-degradable and recycled packaging. We encourage our customers to recycle and reuse our packaging when possible.
Recycling:
We recycle or donate our textile scraps whenever possible. Zero waste is our goal, and right now, we recycle about 75% of all our garbage.
Garment Care:
We recommend all our clothes be washed in COLD WATER, either on GENTLE or BY HAND. LAY FLAT and AIR DRY.
This method not only ensures a longer life for the garment, but it is also low-impact care that also helps save valuable resources, such as water and energy, that are being depleted from the Earth.
Giving Back:
We want to work to offset our carbon footprint, and encourage you all to do the same. Working with Native.eco, we donate a portion of our annual profits to counteract our carbon footprint. This helps to build clean energy and fund carbon-reducing projects, such as grassland conservation.
Transparency Pledge:
We want to be a part of the change. Although we are a small business, we strongly believe transparency is vital in every aspect of the fashion industry.
"The Transparency Pledge helps demonstrate apparel and footwear companies' commitment towards greater transparency in their manufacturing supply chain".
The pledge is one step in our commitment towards greater transparency in the major fashion industry.
